Dashti- is the hero and the caregiver of the story because she takes care of Lady Saren and saves her from dying in the tower. She was determined to find Khan and have her marry Lady Saren because that is what she wanted and she said that she loved Khan.
Lady Saren- is the seeker of the story because she wants to find Khan and tell him her feelings about them and wants to be with him forever. She also is scared to do this because of Khasar and she thinks that if she gets out of the tower that somebody is going to kill her.
Khan- is the lover and the ruler of the story because he tries to break Lady Saren out of the tower but can't because of Khasars men and it is starting to become deep into winter. He also is the ruler because he is the king of his realm.
Khasar- is the villian or destroyer of the story because he is trying kill everyone that doesn't join him and no one likes him. He destroys and kills people and tries to kill Dashti and Lady Saren in the tower and tries to kill Dashti when she goes to fight against him by herself.
The mucker girls in the kitchen- are the friends of the story because when Dashti is going to be killed for lying about not being Lady Saren they come to her rescue and say that all the chiefs must approve before anyone dies. They were there to save her and they were friends with each other.
Batu- is a friend of the story because he is a good friend of Khan's and he helps Dashti in the end when she was going to defeat Khasar.
Lady Vachir- is like a wicked stepmother of the story accept she is not a mother to Dashti or Lady Saren. She is like a villian in a way because she wants to kill Dashti and Lady Saren for getting in the way of her marriage with Khan.
The Setting- of the story has several different archetypes. First- forest because of Khasar and how the girls are locked up in the tower and they have to stay there for seven years. It is just a crazy setting that the girls are locked up in. Second- caves and tunnels because Khasar and his army had killed almost all of the realms except for a few of them. Third- mountains/peaks because most of the cities and Lady Saren's town was wiped out and no one was around there. It was empty and abondoned because of Khasar either killing everyone or taking the people that didn't want to die and they would join his army. Fourth- river because there were places where the two girls shouldn't have been. Like Dashti going out to fight Khasar by herself with no one to help her out at all. Fifth- the sea because Khasar is strange and was unpredictable because he could change into a wolf at night and when he was a wolf he was really strong and could kill more people that way. Therefore, he was stronger and won more battles because he could kill more at night when the other people were resting.
Actions/events-was a journey because the girls were locked up and then they had to journey to Khan's realm and had to survive there and had to defeat Khasar.

Recommending this book for other readers.
I thought this was actually a very good book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy or fairy tales stories. I didn't think this would be like a fairytale about a princess getting locked up in a tower but that's what really happened and in the end it was very good. It wasn't stupid and it wasn't mushy like some fairy tales are. Anyone that likes to think about what might happen next or how something will turn out in the end should read this book. The cover looks good and the book is actually very good. This was a fun book to read and I would like to read more books by this author.
Best and worst parts and the reason.
I think the best part of the book was in the end when Dashti is getting closer to Khan and when she beats Khasar and nobody thought she could do it and she proved them wrong. I think that when Lady Saren tells Khan who she really is and then she tells him that she wants him to marry Dashti instead of her and that they belong together. I liked this part because I thought it was sweet how Lady Saren wanted to be with Khan and in the end she saw how much Khan loved Dashti and wanted them to be happy.
I think that the worst part is when they are in the tower and nothing really happens except cooking and cleaning and the same thing keeps happening over and over again. I don't like it because it is boring and I didn't like reading the first part.

Conflict and Resolution
Some of the conflicts were that they two girls were locked up in the tower and all the problems that they had when they were locked up in the tower. Also when they got out of the tower they had some conflicts that they had to deal with. The conflicts that were in the tower were that they had to survive for seven years in the tower and they had seven years worth of food but if they ate to much then the food would not last them very long. Also with the rats in the tower eating their food, how would they survive. Other conflicts was that Khasar was going to break them out if Saren would go and live with him and she wouldn't so he was putting fire chips inside the tower so that they would burn. Then in the end of the first part they were running out of food and they weren't going to last seven years in the tower.
The Resolution to this was that first of all they would eat small meals and would only use things that they needed to make the meal. They wouldn't use too much, and wouldn't waste any of the food. Second they set traps that the rats would get caught in and they tried to keep the rats out of their food so they moved what they could to a floor higher up. Next, when Khasar threw fire chips in the hole Dashti was running around slapping the flames and throwing water on the fire and they got Khasar to leave them alone and they were fine after that. Finally, Dashti was watching the rats one night and saw that they were running out of a hole that they had made and she started beating on the bricks and made a big enough hole that her and Lady Saren could fit out of.

Changes, experiences, and lessons learned
There was really only one character that truly changed through out my book and that was Lady Saren. She went from really scared of everything in the beginning of the book and then in the end she was brave and told Khan who she really was and told him that she didn't want to marry him and that she wanted him to marry Dashti. The experiences in the book were that the girls had to learn to live in the tower. Then when they got out of the tower they had to learn how to survive out in the plains and in the fields. They then had to learn how to work in the tower and how to survive for working for a place to stay. The lessons learned was that Lady Saren learned to be honest and not be afraid of what people will think of her. She learned that if she just does it right the first time then it won't be so hard when she has to do it again.

The end of my book. 300 page post.
It was the next night and Dashti went to Batu and asked him if he would help her stop Khasar but not to tell Khan because she knew that he would not allow Dashti to do what she was going to be doing. She was planning on leaving the tower and wanted to get close enough to Khasar to sing, hoping to turn him into his wolf side. Dashti believes that if his men see him change into his wolf side then they will be afraid of him and will retreat leaving him powerless. Batu agreed to help her, in the morning he would lead her to the east city gates and tell the guards to let her pass. After she got through the gates she would go by herself to hopefully to defeat Khasar. The next morning they set out to the city gates, when Dashti got to the gates she took her boots off and when her feet touched the ground they went numb because it was so cold. She started walking towards Khasar's army and when she got close enough she yelled to him. He yelled back to her, and told her not to move any closer or he would kill her. He was letting her live because he wanted to know if she was just an offering. She told him that she was Lady Saren, he didn't believe her at first and said to let him see her eyes. He was still to far so she took her hood off and put her head down. To make him believe her, she said, "The day you threw flames into the tower, the day you tried to smoke me like winter meat, I guess I've never been so scared in my life." He laughed because he remember that this was true. He still wouldn't let her come near because they thought she could have a hidden weapon in her cloak. She could sing to him unless he was close enough, so she unhooked the neck clasp and let her cloak fall to the ground, she was standing there nude showing them that she didn't have a hidden weapon. She started to beg him to let her put her cloak back on and take her with him. He started to walk towards her, getting closer and closer. He was close enough to her now and she bowed down on her knee's so that he couldn't see her face and she started to sing the song of the wolf hoping that he would turn into his other form. Suddenly he had his head thrown back, Dashti almost stopped singing but she kept singing praying that he would change. He stumbled back a few steps and Chinua his war chief, was trying to talk to him so that he wouldn't change into his wolf form. Dashti stood up and got right up next to him so that she wouldn't be shot with arrows because she knew that they wouldn't shoot their leader. Khasar started howling at the sky and pushed Dashti to the ground, and Khasar kept thrashing and he slowly changed into his wolf form. He dropped down on all fours and growled. Chinua yelled at the men not to shoot because it was their leader in his wolf form. Dashti was hoping that he would attack his own men but he wasn't she was giving up hope that her plan was failing. Dashti was moving back to her cloak so that she would be warm again. That was a bad idea, when he heard her he turned around and his eyes were on her and he crouched and snarled at her. He jumped on her and she felt a terrible pain in her leg, he was trying to bite her neck when an arrow hit him in the rear. One of the warriors had let go of his arrow by accident and Dashti knew it was Under the god of tricks and that he was on her side. Khasar turned towards his men and lunged at them. Chinua was still yelling not to shoot him. Arrows kept hitting him and then he would attack the men that had shot him with arrows. He killed several men and had to many arrows in him to chase any other men that had ran away. Dashti tried to drag herself towards the gates and away from the wolf. He started coming towards her and pounded on her again, he was going to bite her neck then his body slumped and he collapsed on her and didn't move. He was dead from all the arrows that had pierced him. Dashti tried to push the wolf off her but it was so heavy that she couldn't budge it from her leg. She thought she was going to die, then she heard drums and horns and she looked to see five hundred warriors coming from the west gate of the city with Batu leading them. They stayed at a safe distance because of Khasar's army, it still had many men with arrows to shoot at them. They yelled to her to make sure that she was ok, Batu said that if they leave that Batu will not attack and that they can make it back home before a full winter hits them. Dashti got a sudden pain in her ankle when Chinua started dragging Khasar off of her. Dashti tried to get up and hop towards Batu but she thought she looked funny and tried to walk on her other leg and when she did, she collapsed screaming in pain. Khan came to her and carried her to his horse and then they all rode into the city gates again. Dashti said that her ankle was broken and that Khasar didn't like her ankles so that is why he broke her ankle. Dashti was back in the tower with her leg wrapped up and she was next to the fire. She was going to be marring Khan and she wanted to tell Lady Saren that she could go and tell him the truth about who she really was and that he would love and protect her. Lady Saren told Dashti that she wanted Dashti to marry him for her and then she would tell him the truth, she didn't want him to change his mind before the wedding. Dashti couldn't do that to Khan, she had been lying to him for so long and she wasn't going to marry him under a lie. Lady Saren was mad and they got into an argument about. Dashti was going to leave the next morning so that she wouldn't hurt anybody. She said goodbye to the mucker girls in the kitchen and Lady Saren. She was leaving when Lady Vachir found the book Dashti had left behind for Khan telling him everything that had happened and why she was leaving. Lady Vachir's guards chased her down and Lady Vachir was going to have them chop her head off for interfering with getting married to Khan. The mucker girls could hear Dashti screaming and came to see what was going on, they said that she couldn't do that because the chief's had to approve of it. Lady Vachir knew they were right and said to just cut off her leg so that she couldn't run away again. They were going to cut her foot off and she was so scared but when the sword didn't fall her looked and saw that Khan was next to her and protecting her. Lady Saren had gone and got him, Khan picked Dashti up and was arguing with Lady Vachir. Dashti was locked up because she lied about who she really was and that was a big crime. The chiefs were going to decide her punishment and Khan came to see her to say that he was sorry and that he didn't know what to do. There was a meeting where all the chief's were also Lady Saren, Lady Vachir and Khan were, they were talking to Dashti about everything. Dashti told them she pretended to be Lady Saren because she was told to and there was a big argument and in the end Dashti had won and she wasn't going to be punished. Khan asked Lady Saren to marry him and she said, " I would rather not marry you. However, I retain my right to our betrothal, and I exact it for my sister, Dashti." Khan was so happy, he kissed Saren on the forehead and asked Dashti to marry him. She accepted and they were getting married in a few days. She was so happy, it was a dream come true. She wore a deel dyed as blue as the Eternal Sky, embroidered with yellow and gold thread, sunrise ans sunset sunning up and down the sleeves. They were now married and Dashti went to change so that she could dance now and have a big party.

250 page post
Ever since Dashti gave the cat to Lady Saren, Lady Saren has been so happy and constantly smiling. Now Osol, Dashti little boy friend is going to be hung because he pushed a chief and when she fell, he kicked her. It was really bad because she was gentry, the highest level in authority, so Osol had to be punished but Dashti thought it was to extreme to hang him. He was hung that night and Dashti wouldn't go see his body. Lady Saren is so happy that she works so much faster and everyone is impressed with that. So, since she has been working so much faster she has been moved up to arranging food on platters. Several days later Khan and his army are back and Khan is wounded and a tenth of his warriors are dead. Dashti has been working on Khan to try to heal him. He has an arrow wound through his side and it has turned into a fever. Dashti sings and sings until her voice is hoarse. Khan isn't getting any better even with all the treatments that everyone has given him. Dashti is ready to give up until she remembers how when she was young and she fell into a thorn bush and her arm swelled and swelled, and no matter what her mother was calm and sang to her until she was better. She went back and stayed with Khan and sang to him. She has been singing to him for the past six days, she had sang all the healing songs so many times that she started to sing the songs that little kids sing when they are playing. By this time she can barely talk but she will not give up on him. She put her hands on his head and started singing, he suddenly woke up she didn't startle and just kept singing. She started to pull her hands away and he put his hand over hers on his chest. She left that night so she could go get some rest and the next morning when she went in there he was sitting up and he was not pale anymore. He gave her a greeting that mucker's give to each other. Lady Vachir is not happy with Dashti because she has become close to her soon to be husband and she is always frowning and never in a happy mood. Lady Vachir says her back hurts and wants Dashti to sing healing songs to her and Dashti does what she is told. She said that Dashti healing songs don't work and she doesn't know why Khan keeps her around. Dashti was mad and says, "A song can only work if the hearer wills it. Do you perhaps enjoy the back pain? Or maybe your back didn't pain you to begin with?" Lady Vachir slapped her and she thinks, "What is it about gentry that they're always slapper people?" Dashti laughed and that make Lady Vachir very mad. Dashti leaves her to be alone now. She returns to Khan's room and she hears news of Khasar's warriors resting and is regrouping from the war. Khasar is going to come to Khan's tower to defeat him once he has gathered more warriors and is ready. A few days later many people were in Khan's room talking about Khasar's army is setting up camp outside Khan's walls. Since Khan has taken in so many people from the other realms they won't have enough food to last them through the winter but Khasar's army will be able to make it through. They are talking about what to do and if they should attack. Dashti says that they will have to trick him because he betrayed Under, the god of tricks and they can use that against him. She doesn’t know how to trick him but she knows that they have to try somehow. Dashti went to talk to Lady Saren about Lord Khasar, and what she knows about him. Lady Saren tells her that when she was little and was at Khasar's tower that he took her outside, when the sun was just setting and showed her that he can turn into a wolf. In the morning she goes to Khan's chamber to share the news of what she now knows. When Dashti walks in, the war chief was saying, "He's declaring he won't attack us if we give him Lady Saren." Khan couldn't believe what he was hearing, he didn't even know that Lady Saren was in his tower. He was saying how when he went to visit Lady Saren in the tower that Khasar was camped by the tower and had two hundred men and Khan only had thirty men, so he had to leave. He thought Khasar would break her out and take her back with him. Dashti had promised that she would tell Khan that she was Lady Saren to see what his reaction would be. Khan knew there was more that the chief was not telling him and he asked. The chief said he would take Khan if they wouldn't give him Lady Saren. No body was going to let him do that, suddenly Dashti blurts out, "Here, I'm Lady Saren." Khan was surprised and was saying Dashti, and Dashti said Dashti is my maid's name. Khan stepped forward and kept asking more questions, and he kept moving forward and asking more questions. Dashti told of how they broke out and came to his tower. He said he had never actually seen Lady Saren and that they had only spoken through letters. Dashti asked him to forgive her but he interrupted her and said, "Don’t you dare ask my forgiveness! After abandoning you, leaving you to Khasar and the rats and darkness and starvation, all because I was too afraid. I’m unforgivable, Dashti... my lady. But will you?" He got down on his knee’s and held her hands against his face and asked her to forgive him. She said to him don’t kneel to me. He stood up and said that he was sorry. Suddenly Dashti said that, "He’s a wolf." That he turns into a wolf at night and that is how he is such a fierce warrior and that they should be able to trick him now. Dashti said, "Send me down to him, send him Lady Saren, and let me." Khan cut her off and said they wouldn’t consider that. They were done talking and they took her to a room higher up and had a bed and soft sheets, it was a room that was for a Lady. She had sent for Lady Saren down in the kitchen and when she came up Shria the maid was still standing in there and then she finally left. Dashti said, "I did it, my lady." Lady Saren said thanks. Lady Saren says she must return to the kitchen because she has platters that she has to prepare for the feast tonight. Dashti is relieved that she did what Lady Saren had asked her to do. Dashti is looking out of her window and can see Khasar’s men and their fires out in Khan’s field’s.
